Surprisingly, Latvia’s beautiful nature, quaint villages, and historic city centres have yet to be exploited by tourists, unlike many other Eastern European countries. Here you can explore gorgeous green valleys, thick pine forests, low-rising mountains and cobblestoned city streets. Riga is a popular city for holiday accommodation due to its lovely stone streets, Art-Nouveau architecture, and sociable café culture. The nightlife here is especially enjoyable for the numerous beer gardens and hip nightclubs. Close by is the seaside getaway of Jurmala, where comfortable holiday rentals reside on shady, tree-lined streets, and the beaches are a panorama of sandy dunes, sun dappled pine forests, and the refreshing waters of the Baltic Sea. Sigulda is not to be missed for its lovely castles, picturesque green meadows and stunning natural caves. A trip out to the countryside can be incredibly peaceful as wildflowers sway in the breeze, songbirds warble in the trees overhead, and charming wooden farmhouses add to the rural idyll. As Latvia has not yet hit it big on the tourism radar, there are still many magical areas to be explored where you can find peace, serenity and great deals on accommodation and food.
