Due to its mild climate, aquamarine waters, and picturesque hiking trails, Capri has long been a favourite holiday destination for emperors, artists and celebrities for centuries. This tiny island in the Tyrrhenian Sea has everything a holidaymaker could want on vacation. Villa rentals are widely available, and many are close to the many small beaches that dot the coast. Limestone crags jut out of the sea, and make for great hikes, especially in Anacapri, where trails lead past gorgeous gardens and historic villas. The Blue Grotto is famous for its natural beauty. Here a small cave in a cliff face opens to the sea, allowing light to pass through the water, creating an ephemeral turquoise hue to the waters within. Another popular attraction is the chairlift ride up to the summit of Monte Solaro, as the views from the top are absolutely incredible. For the perfect relaxing day, start by watching a phenomenal sunrise over the mountains of Capri, spend the day relaxing on the beach, and swimming in the refreshing, clear blue sea, and then finish off by watching the sunset while dining on fresh seafood on the veranda of your holiday villa. Just be careful though; you may never want to leave.
