Holiday Rental Web Advises Travellers to Be Cautious if Travelling to Bangkok
Holiday Rental Web urges visitors to Bangkok to be extremely careful after the recent Valentine’s Day bombings. Although three of the perpetrators were apprehended, the governments of the US and the UK are still issuing travel advisories. They warn that the threat of terrorism is very high at the current time.
The first bombs went off in a rental house on Soi 7 off of Sukhumvit Road on the afternoon of February 14th. While two men fled the scene, another set off two more bombs, one of which was thrown at the police who were attempting to apprehend the man. Fortunately only five people were injured, including the man who threw the final bomb. The three men have been arrested, and police are currently searching for a woman who is believed to have fled the country.
Holiday Rental Web believes that although Bangkok is a generally a very safe vacation destination, the recent bombings are a cause for caution. Travelers to Thailand might want to consider booking accommodation in Surat Thani region instead.
Asian Airports Dominate the Airport Service Quality Awards
The 2011 Airport Quality Awards, which took place on February 14th, showed an overwhelming number of Asian airports in top spots. The number one spot for Best Airport Worldwide went to Incheon International Airport in Korea for the seventh year in a row, and the following four spots all went to other airports in the Asian region.
The Airports Council International holds the awards ceremony every year, and top spots are awarded based on customer satisfaction surveys. The ACI is a non-profit organization that is the only international representative of airports around the world. They operate 1,650 airports in 179 countries.
Other winners for the Best Airport Worldwide include Changi Airport in Singapore, the Beijing Capital International Airport, the Hong Kong International Airport, and the Nagoya Chubu Centrair International Airport respectively.
Holiday Rental Web believes Asian airports dominated because like most Asian countries, the airports are efficient, easy to navigate, and heavily focused on customer service. Travellers who have the opportunity to visit any of these fabulous Asian airports can check out the Holiday Rental Web for great deals on holiday homes and rentals in these destinations.
Vincent Van Gogh’s Former Home to Be Restored
Local authorities in the village of Petit Wasmes in Belgium have rented Vincent Van Gogh’s former home and plan to turn it into a museum and guesthouse. Currently the house is not occupied and is extremely run down, with peeling paint and boarded up windows. The authorities want to renovate the property in an effort to collaborate with the neighbouring city of Mons, which will be the European Capital of Culture for 2015.
The municipality plans extensive renovations to restore the house to what it originally looked like when Van Gogh lived there. Van Gogh made the decision to be an artist while living in this property. Authorities hope that the restoration will help revive an important cultural attraction in the small village. If all goes to plan, the house should be open to the public in 2015.
For those who want to see the house before restorations begin, Holiday Rental Web suggests travellers book accommodation in Belgium and make the trip to the Borinage region.
Planes and Trains Cancelled in UK Due to Icy Winter Conditions
Heavy snows and freezing temperatures over the weekend have caused havoc in UK transportation. Roads have been closed, trains have been delayed and flights have been cancelled due to the messy winter conditions.
The Meteorological Office has urged people to take extra care when driving as ice, freezing fog, and snow have combined to create treacherous conditions on many roads. There were numerous accidents on the roads this weekend, particularly on the A1 in Yorkshire. Fortunately no one has been seriously injured, but caution is advised nonetheless.
Heathrow Airport cancelled over 600 flights on the weekend, which caused much consternation amongst passengers. Spokespeople from the airport stated that passenger safety was their first concern, and that the decision was the right choice.
Airlines and trains are back up and running now, but the frigid weather is predicted to continue well into February. For those looking for an escape from the cold weather, Holiday Rental Web suggests booking holiday accommodation in Thailand for a sun, sea and sand holiday.
